Carry on.

We get new overlords... they need to make profit. Add more advertising. Make it look like Yahoo and AOL of it’s hay day. Users abandon it.
That’s my estimate

Agreed. Reorganization is just that.

You act as if GM didn’t need to make profit. More than likely the layout will change yet again and commenting will get all fucked up.

But they are selling to Ziff-Davis, apparently.

Everyone needs to make profit. That’s the business model of every business. But some overlords need more than others. Yes, I agree. The commenting might get fucked up... or even worse

Too late it’s already at run away hysteria levels.

And even if, so what? We’ve seen so many changes in the commenting system, people bitched, people moaned, some left/threatened to leave and came back, others left for good, oppo is still here and is in pretty good shape.
Remember that day 3.5 years ago when we had to leave the old place and move into our current Kinja home? Just a nice team building exercise, nothing more.

Maybe so, but I’m still spending the weekend saving all my Aviation History posts offline. That’s 16 months of work I don’t want to lose. Though I agree, this carnival isn’t folding up overnight. It's not the Baltimore Colts, after all.

+1. For all the bitching about Kinja, it's really a pretty good platform, and somebody might actually look forward to buying it.

Just a heads up, both deadspin’s and Gawker.com’s DNS is down. Something is up
Edit: it’s back up now

I don’t feel the need to actually post something from my phone. When I’m on the tablet I barely write a one or two sentence reply to something, so mobile kinja works FOR ME. And the real thing pretty much works flawless 99.9% of the time on my laptop. So no complaints here. Find me another commenting system which allows us to post long articles with lots of high-res pictures, embedded videos, and working links. Not to mention the possibility of setting up sub-blogs like photography, cigar lounge or LALD FOR FREE !
The old hashtag era was fun too, but it seems a bit medieval compared to what we have now. Kids these days seem to be so used to getting free stuff of the internet that they are actually looking the gift horse in the mouth.

Kinja has allowed me to make really great-looking long-form posts. The formatting is, for the most part, quite impressive. Sure, it was rough at first, but now it’s really quite good.
